Amenities at Hazel Cottage, Kingsbarns, St Andrews, Fife

Our Kingsbarns Cottage is fully equipped with all bed linen and towels provided.
The breakfasting kitchen is fully equipped with washing machine, oven, hob, fridge-freezer, dishwasher and all utensils cutlery and dishes etc. There is even a slow cooker so you can prepare a hot meal to come home to in the evening.

Hazel Cottage also has WiFi and Freeview Television.

There is a small drying area at the back with clothes pegs etc.

The cottage has its own private car park off the street and opposite this is a quiet and well maintained children’s play park.
At the front of the cottage there is a small sunny sitting out area with table and chairs.

The beach is under 5 minutes from Hazel Cottage and about a 10 to 15 minute walk if you prefer.

Kingsbarns Golf Links is about the same and Cambo House and gardens is just a few minutes more and the new Kingsbarns Distillery and Visitors centre will open next year.

At the Village Square there is a regular bus service to St Andrews and villages of Crail Anstruther etc.


As part of our extras at Hazel Cottage we are happy to offer a week's subscripton to the Spa,Gym pool, jaccuzi etc at (for a nominal cost) at the luxurious St Andrews Bay Hotal, a 10 minute drive from Kingsbarns

Well behaved dogs are very welcome by arrangement.

Some sites worth seeing around Hazel Cottage, Kingsbarns, St Andrews, Fife

Kingsbarns Beach.
Kingsbarns beach is a seaside award beach stretching for 2 tranquil miles.
The sea is clear and there are interesting rock pools hiding a number of rock pools hiding sea creatures such as hermit crabs, sea anemones, starfish and small fish.
Also fossil can be seen at low tide including 333 million year old roots and trunk of a lepidodendron. www.discoveringfossils.co.uk /kingsbarns.
Also at low tide, the wreck of HMS Success can be seen which was wrecked on the 27th December 1914. There is more information about this in the book on Kingsbarns at the cottage.

Kingsbarns Golf Club:
Kingsbarns golf club’s origins date back to 1793 and 10 years ago it was rescued and redesigned.
Today it has the reputation of being of the best courses, not only locally but Golf magazine  rated it 11th worldwide in courses created in the last 50 years and number  1 in Europe.

St Andrews:
St Andrews is 6 miles down the east coast from Hazel cottage and is the home of golf originating in 1754. It is also the home of Scotland’s oldest university, created in the year 1410.

There are too many historical landmarks to mention here but they will certainly keep you interested.
The famous west sands, the opening scene from “Chariots of Fire”, are 2 miles of uninterrupted sands.
Other attractions include the Botanic Gardens and the St Andrews aquarium with will enthral children.
Craigton Park is a wonderful day out with attractions such as the miniature railway a treat for all the family.

Eastneuk of Fife:
Further down the coast are the charming fishing villages of Crail, Anstruther, Pittenweem, St Monans and Elie each with their own character and eating places.
A must is a visit to the isle of May, a National Nature Reserve with its own breeding colony of grey seals, sea birds such as puffins, guillemots and terns. It is a short boat trip from Anstruther.

We are also excited to tell you about the new Kingsbarns Distillery, which opens on December 1st 2014. And will have tours, whiskey tastings, a gift shop and a café.
This new attraction is less than a mile from Hazel Cottage.
